According to sources, the top cop has instructed both the Special Commissioners of Police (Law & Order)—North Zone and South Zone—to brief him about the crime trend in their respective districts. Also, he had asked them to submit the status report of the cases registered at various police stations.
It seems that the commissioner is not leaving any stone unturned to make the city crime-free.
As compared to the last year, crime rate percentage has increased after which Verma has woken up to curb the crime.
The sources further said: “P Kamraj, Special CP (South Zone) and SBK Singh, Special CP (North Zone) has instructed the joint commissioners of all the six ranges to obtain the details of the number of cases registered at various police stations. Also, all the Station House Officers (SHOs)have been asked to submit the status report of each case.”
Apart from submitting the status reports, the officials need to explain the reason behind the pending cases. Not only this, but the report must also contain the details that why heinous crimes including crime against women taking place in their jurisdiction.
After the reports would be analyzed by the Deputy Commissioners followed by respective joint commissioners and special commissioners, each report is supposed to be analyzed by the top cop—Alok Verma.
“The SHOs of those police stations, where the crime rate has increased and the cases have not been worked out, will be called in the meeting. And the SHO will be answerable to the commissioner in the meeting,” added the source.
Earlier Millennium Post has reported that a special emphasis has been laid upon quick reaction time and effective patrolling of PCRs and Riders (instructions have been imparted to their staff not to remain stationary at a given point for more than 20 minutes at a stretch).
The new patrolling schedule has been charted out for ensuring safety of women and beefing up the security of educational institutions, banks, petrol pumps, parks, markets, malls, vital installations and other places of high footfall.
