Pokhran spying: Home ministry official arrested

In a shocking revelations in the Pokhran spying case, Ministry of Home Affairs staffer was arrested by the Rajasthan police on Monday for allegedly disclosing information to a Pakistani spy.

Sources said that Chandrashekhar, a section officer in the foreign division of the MHA, is believed to have links with arrested Pakistani spy Sumer Khan. Intelligence sources said Sumar Khan was sharing information of the IAF’s exercise with his mutual uncle Rahim Yar Khan in Pakistan for days.

His uncle has been working for ISI for the last few years, the sources said. This is a major breakthrough for the intelligence agencies.

Pakistani spy Sumer Khan is currently under the custody of the Joint Interrogation Cell in Jaipur where the security agencies are questioning him.

Intelligence agencies believes that his arrest could lead to many exposes as Sumer Khan was working in the region for the past two years and has passed on the details of India’s defence installation in the area to the Pakistan. A 10th class passout, Sumer is an expert in computers and would talk to his uncle over phone in code words.
