In the coming days you can choose and switch over on your favourite electricity supplier in the city like mobile service providers, promised Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching his party’s campaign for the forthcoming Delhi assembly elections in a mammoth rally on Saturday. The Prime Minister also promised ‘pucca houses’ to each jhuggi-jhopri dweller by 2022 and make the national capital slum free.
“My government is working on the project and soon you can choose the electricity company of your choice like mobile service providers. It will create competition among electricity companies and prices will automatically come down,” said Modi while addressing the Abhinandan Rally in the speech amid cheers and thunderous applaud. “I want to make Delhi ‘generator free’ which will also make the city free from poisonous gases besides bringing down electricity rate,” added Modi announcing 24x7 hour electricity supply.
He also exhorted people to replace normal electricity bulbs with LED lights to save energy. “You replace two normal bulbs with LED and save Rs 300 per year on electricity,” said Modi. He also thanked Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu for taking 17 major decision for Delhi in such a ‘short span of time’.
“Congress ruled both in Delhi and Centre but files related to development of city and benefits of poor were stuck for decades. Congress had governments in both Delhi and Haryana but water dispute could not be sorted out for 15 years,” he said taking a jibe at Congress party. Modi also promised to make the city corruption free. “I have started eradicating corruption from my office and believe me I will bring down this movement to provide relief to ‘street vendor’ level,” added Modi. Praising the cooperation of banks in opening 19.5 lakh bank accounts in Delhi, Modi took a jibe at Congress and said it means these poor people were kept away from banking system.
Modi also flayed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for stalling development of the city since past one year. “We will bridge this gap of one and also further carry the city on the path of development,” said Modi. He also urged people to allot assignments as per the expertise of the politicians and claimed that BJP has expertise good governance while others having expertise in dharna and blocking roads. The historic Ramlila ground was packed with people besides thousands were also sitting on roads in the vicinity, people were brought from various parts of Delhi in over 2500 buses 125 tractors besides metro and public transport.
