According to a source, when mother of the victim, Pushpa Singh, went to pick up her son from the Natkhat Play School at Janakpuri on Thursday she saw her son, Utkarsh (2), crying and vomiting repeatedly. She went to the teacher and authorities of the play school asking what had happened, but they said that they had no clue.

Pushpa rushed her son to a nearby hospital where she got to know that her son was brought to the same hospital a few hours ago by the play school authorities, who had just refused to have known anything. ‘The child was diagnosed with some serious issues and was asked to be admitted immediately, but the school authorities refused to do so and went away,’ said a source.

He further said, when Utkarsh — who is hardly two years and four months old — was finally admitted in the Mata Chanan Devi hospital at Janakpuri, some poisonous chemical was detected in his stomach and was immediately shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU). When Pushpa went back to the school to ask what had actually happened to her son, they again said that they had no clue.

The authorities didn’t even say anything about what the child might have eaten and how the poisonous chemical could possibly have gone into his body.

According to a police official, after a complaint was received from the victim’s parents — Jeevan Singh and Pushpa — on Thursday, the playschool was booked under charges of severe negligence by the Janakpuri police station. ‘By Saturday, Utkarsh was out of danger and police are still investigating the case, the official added.

Jeevan works at a five-star hotel and Pushpa works as a teacher for a NGO.
