Mukerjea reached the Khar police station here this morning for recording of his statement. Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev <g data-gr-id="55">Khanna</g> and driver Shyam Rai, who were allegedly involved in the murder, were also brought there a little later.
A police team also went to Peter <g data-gr-id="30">Mukerjea’s</g> residence in Worli area even as a team in Kolkata is said to have seized Khanna’s laptop that would help in the probe.
The police are understood to have questioned the three accused in the presence of Peter and their counsel in perhaps the first such confrontation since Indrani was arrested on August 24 for allegedly murdering Sheena.
Indrani Mukerjea is accused of killing Sheena, her daughter from an earlier relationship, in 2012 over a financial dispute, with the help of her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai.
<g data-gr-id="34">Mukerjea</g> had gone to the police station last week, but the Mumbai police had refused to accept a written statement from him and he was told that when the police needed, they would call him
for questioning.
A local court had earlier extended the police custody of the three accused — Indrani, Sanjeev <g data-gr-id="56">Khanna</g> and Shyam Rai — till September 5. Peter was grilled for nearly 12 hours at the Khar police station, while his brother Gautam <g data-gr-id="33">Mukerjea</g>, who had accompanied him there in the morning, left at around 4 pm.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police interrogated Siddharth Das, who was in a relationship with Indrani Mukerjea, at his Durganagar residence in northern fringes of Kolkata on Wednesday evening in connection with Sheena Bora murder case.
According to officers of the Dum Dum police station, three officers of Mumbai Police reached Siddharth’s residence at around 8 pm and questioned him, which was on till late this evening.
“Whether Das will be arrested or detained, depends on the Mumbai Police. They are trying to dig deep into his role, if there is any, in the murder case,” a senior police officer said.
