Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday attacked the Congress saying people ‘do not want weak rulers’ who led to the rise of ‘pseudo activists’ with reference to Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal. The Congress rout in four states has largely been blamed by the losing party on Pawar, who as union agriculture minister could not ensure a fall in spiralling prices of vegetables specially onions.
In an indirect attack on Congress, the 72-year-old Pawar issued a statement, saying, ‘People need strong, decisive and result-oriented leaders. They do not want weak rulers, but they want those who will formulate policies and programs for poor and implement them with firmness.’ The youth played a big role in this polls that led to Congress’ defeat, the union minister said, ‘The new generation have given a clear indication of their anger through ballot.’ He said of late weak leadership at various levels has given a rise to bunch of ‘pseudo activists’ which has no connect with ground reality. ‘People in government get influenced by these people. They come up with unrealistic ideas and impression gets created that they are representing people’s feelings which is not true,’ he said.
