Panic grips residents as 2 cases of fire reported in 3 hours in Gurgaon

Two major cases of fire were reported in the city in three hours on Saturday. 

The first incident was reported from the godown of a scrap warehouse in the Sheetla Colony area of Ashok Vihar Phase-II in the afternoon. Soon, the fire spread in the entire building and fire tenders had to be sent back for a refill. The situation worsened, when a fire tender met with an accident while going for a refill.

Papers, plastic and rubber materials were kept in the godown from where the fire started. The warehouse is located in a residential area, causing panic among the residents. The fire brigade was informed around 2pm and 10 fire tenders from Sector 29, Bhim Nagar and Udyog Vihar fire stations were rushed to the spot. It took 40 firemen three hours to douse the flames.

The fire tenders had to be sent back to the stations for refilling. While going back for refill, a fire tender met collided with a truck near Signature Tower. Sources said the truck driver jumped the traffic signal and crashed into the fire tender. 

The police have impounded the truck and a case of accident has been registered against the errant truck driver at the Sector 40 police station.

Within a few hours, another incident of fire was reported from the office of a garment export company in Udyog Vihar Phase-V. Around 5pm, staff of the company noticed flames emanating from the top floor of the building. It took four fire tenders around two hours to douse the blaze. No casualty has been reported in both the cases.
