The conference was based on the theme ‘Emerging Trends in School Education’.
Before inaugurating the conference, Raju also visited a photo exhibition showcasing the contribution of KVS over 50 years in the area of school education in the country.
Over 500 principals, deputy commissioners of all the 25 regional offices, directors of five zonal Institutes of Educational Training and officers of KVS headquarters will deliberate on the issues and concerns related to quality education in schools during the two-day conference. Minister of state for HRD Shashi Tharoor, adviser to prime minister Manmohan Singh, Sam Pitroda and chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education, Vineet Joshi, will also address participants during the conference.
As part of the celebrations to mark 50 years, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan had organised a travelling photo exhibition across 14 cities in India that started from New Delhi and showcased the journey of KVS from 20 to 1,093 schools along with its initiatives and innovative practices for providing quality education to school children. These exhibitions about growth and evolution of KVS were aimed at spreading awareness about the contribution of Kendriya Vidyalayas in the field of school education.
The function will end with the giving away of Incentive Awards to meritorious teachers and staff of KVS by minister of state, HRD, Jitin Prasada on Friday.
