Paintings inspired by tales of honour & valour

As part of ‘68th Army Day’ celebrations, the Army conducted an open painting competition on the theme “Indian Army: Symbol of Courage, Valour and Sacrifice” which was organised at India Gate Lawns on Saturday afternoon. Namita Suhag, president, Army Wives Welfare Association was the chief guest of the function and she encouraged the participating children by giving away the prizes to the winners.

The online registration for the Painting Competition was completed by and around 515 children participated in the event. 

The Children participated enthusiastically and the final decision was made by the judges from College of Arts, Delhi very challenging. 

The competitions were held under three different categories. 

The ‘Under 12 years’ category was won by Tanish Sahoo, while the category for ‘Differently - Abled Children’ was won by Kumari Pooja. The ‘Best Overall Painting’ was awarded to Pravesh Kumar, who also bagged the first position in the ‘12 to 18 years’ category and presented his painting to the chief guest. The winners were given a trophy and cash prize for each category. 

Apart from this, 15 consolation prizes with a medallion were also awarded to the shortlisted Paintings.

The event was conducted as a prelude to the 68th Army Day - 2016 Celebrations this year and went a long way to etch an impression in the minds of the future generations of the country on the Indian Army’s legacy of courage, valour and sacrifice. 

The event also encouraged the young minds towards a life in the Army and rekindled a sense of patriotism among them.
