Keeping in mind the upcoming work stress and long duty hours on the policemen who have been deployed to manage traffic arrangements for the World Culture Festival to be held from Friday, for the first time Delhi Police will be providing packed lunch and dinner for them.
Earlier, during the time of such arrangements for events, the cops had to bank on snacks like biscuits, chips and some times sandwiches or patties. This time, as the traffic cops have to do more than 14 to 16 hours of duty continuously for three days (Friday to Sunday), senior police officials have requested the district police to provide them proper lunch and dinner. This initiative was taken to encourage the traffic cops who will be deployed since early morning on Friday, the very first day of the World Culture Festival. Several policemen will also be deployed in South Delhi to manage the heavy vehicular movement of the commuters going to attend the Radha Soami Satsang.
“Special orders of packed food — both lunch and dinner have been made. This arrangement will boost their energy, which is very much needed to make this mega event a success,” said a senior traffic police officer.
Along with the food items, the department is thinking to provide snacks and fruits as refreshment as well. Also, proper arrangements of packaged drinking water, tea and coffee will be made,” another official added.
More than 2,500 traffic cops along with 500 policemen from the district will be deployed in the national Capital to manage the traffic. The senior officers have accepted that fact that commuters in Delhi-NCR are going to suffer a lot in this whole week. And on Friday, they will be most affected due to multiple mega-events and marriages.
