Over Rs 5,300 cr for Delhi Police

In a bid to strengthen women security in the national Capital, fund allocation for the Delhi Police from the Nirbhaya Fund has also been increased by Rs 40 lakh. While a total of Rs 3 crore was allocated to Delhi Police from the Nirbhaya Fund under the revised budget estimates for 2014-15, an amount of Rs 3.40 crore has been set aside for fiscal 2015-16. In the Budget presented by finance minister Arun Jaitley, the city police was allocated Rs 390 crore in plan head while Rs 4979.48 crore was earmarked for non-plan expenditure, amounting to a total of Rs 5372.88 crore.

The revised budget estimates for Delhi Police for 2014-15 had been Rs 4865.30 crore. The highlights include an allocation of Rs 8 crore for the installation of traffic signals in the national Capital this fiscal. An amount of Rs 7 crore has been allotted for ‘Developing Traffic and Communication Network in NCR Mega Cities and Model Traffic System’ in the current Budget. An amount of Rs 3 crore has been allocated for upgrading training facilities, while Rs 50 lakh has been set aside for induction of latest technology.
