With an aim to computerise all hospitals in the city, the recently constituted Delhi Health Corporation (DHC) is focussing to completely digitise health services in the hospitals and also go paperless.
Emphasising on the issue of computerisation of all Delhi hospitals and health services, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said: “Our objective is to make all Delhi hospitals paperless.”
Jain also said the functions of digitisation will not only help in improvement of medical procurement and inventory management procedures but will also be extended to processes like OPD registration, radiological functions, laboratory records, billing records and other vital health services. Highlighting the importance of data-driven information which can be stored for a longer time and cannot be lost, Jain again reiterated the significance of health cards where all crucial information of the patients visiting the hospitals will be stored.
The scheme of health cards that was announced previously by the Delhi government is expected to roll out in August. Jain also mentioned that even though the aim is to cover the entire 2 crore population of Delhi, the health cards will initially be issued to patients coming to hospitals. Responding to how many IT firms are involved in the bidding process, Jain said that there are about 25 to 30 companies that are involved in the process, Jain however, refused to name the companies. A senior official, overseeing the process, also mentioned that the digitisation process of all Delhi hospitals and health services is receiving a lot of positive response from the companies that are involved in the online bidding process.
