Days after five gamblers were caught from Shahdara district, 41 more gamblers fell in police net after South-east Delhi’s cops launched a crackdown on online gamblers’ racket being run in Sangam Vihar area.
The cops were receiving secret inputs that a gambling racket is being run in a house in the Sangam Vihar area. The also received inputs of suspicious movements in a particular house in Sangam Vihar. The cops enhanced surveillance of the area and when they received confirm reports that the ‘Lucky 7’ game and several others were being played at the house, the team from the Sangam Vihar police station raided the house. The gamblers were caught unaware when the cops raided the premises.
The South-east Delhi Police arrested seven men for running the racket and 34 were arrested for gambling. The cops also seized the stationery found at the premises used for maintaining records of the gambling.
“We have also recovered seven mobile phones used in online gambling along with money. Seven accused have been arrested for running the racket and 34 for gambling under necessary sections,” said Romil Baniya, DCP South-east.
The Delhi Police have launched an offensive against gambling in the Capital. Some days back, five accused were been arrested by the Shahdara Police for running an online casino where many used to gamble in the Lal Quarter market of Krisna Nagar. As many as 13 types of games used to be played at the premises like fun andar bahar, triple run, one target, bingo, fever joker bonus, golden wheel, giant jack, keno, seven up and seven down, lucky and line, checkers and no hold.
The cops had also seized three roller coasters used in online gaming along with nine computers with one server. The caretaker of the game parlour Amit along with four others were arrested.
