The absconding suspect in the murder of aspiring model was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district, police said on Sunday. Police had declared reward of Rs 50,000 for information about him.
‘Shanti Deep Verma, 31, a scrip writer was arrested from Bahraich by a team of Delhi police Sunday morning,’ a senior police officer said.
The team will come back to Delhi by Monday, officer said. On 23 February, the body of Sumit Tiwari was found stuffed in a plastic bag at Verma's rented house in Mandawali in east Delhi.
Verma's involvement is suspected in the murder and a Rs.2 lakh ransom call made to the victim's father.
Tiwari was missing from his house in Karawal Nagar in east Delhi since 21 February. He completed an acting course three months ago at a private college in Noida. He was looking forward to becoming a model and TV actor, an officer said.
