Police arrested one person in connection with sending threat letter to former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

Police said, Nirmal Samanta was arrested in connection with the case. Samanta is a newspaper vendor. The investigators believe he sent the letter to Ganguly’s house, after taking money from someone. He faced marathon interrogation, the police source said.

“We caught him during a raid. We were informed that the former captain got threat letter, posted from East Midnapore. We started the investigation. We believe that some person was involved in this case. Samanta sent the letter only for money,” said the police officer.

It should be recalled that the former Indian captain received a threat letter in his house. The anonymous letter warned him not to participate in a programme at East Midnapore. Ganguly was invited as chief guest at the programme on Thursday.

After the incident, Ganguly informed the matter to police. The organisers were also informed about the matter. A complaint was lodged on behalf of organisers in local police station at East Midnapore.
