National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd (KIOCL), in order to give a major boost to the Government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign and ‘Skill India’ movement.
Both parties will develop a joint curriculum for skill development programs in mining and steel sector. The MoU was signed by Jayant Krishna, CEO, NSDC and N Vidyananda, Director, Production and Projects, KIOCL in the presence of Malay Chatterjee, CMD, KIOCL. The metal and mining industry of India has recorded a strong 19.8 per cent expansion in 2011 to touch $141.9 billion and is expected to reach 305.5 billion during 2015. Production volumes have also been growing steadily over the years at a CAGR of 5.2 per cent.
