Scores of students on Monday staged a protest outside UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) office, demanding scrapping of Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) from civil services exam.
Protesters raised slogans against UPSC office, calling CSAT discriminatory and against aspirants with a Hindi or non-English background.
‘We have been protesting for the last 20 days, but UPSC is doing nothing for us. Nobody is ready to pay heed to our demand. We will not sit silent till our demand is met,’ a protester said.
The protestors also burnt posters of some Congress leaders. Police had to erect barricades outside the UPSC office to prevent agitating students from barging inside.
As protesters refused to budge, a large numbers of police personnel were deployed at the site. Later, police took all the protesters to Parliament Street police station in a bus.
