You need not  flip pages of newspapers for information on the latest tender notifications issued by various government departments/ organisations as the Centre has decided to publish all government tenders on a fixed date of every month.

According to government sources, the tender notifications issued by several departments/organisation would be published in newspapers on 10th, 20th and 30th of every month. “The move aims to promote ease of doing business and bring transparency in tender notification process as there is no fixed date for such notifications. At present, departments publish public notifications as per their convenience, which proved chaotic for tender participants,” an official said.

“The implementation of the new rule will provide a great relief to several bidders, who are always busy in turning the pages of newspapers to find a tender notification of their interest. Now, they would take a look at the paper on a fixed date for government notifications,” the official said, adding that notifications of all categories, including vacancies, procurement tenders, corrigendum, etc, would be published only on the fixed date.

“The decision has been taken, after it was observed that several tender notifications had to be re-issued as to only a few participants showed interest. As notifications appear on different dates in newspapers, the chances of it being missed are very high, which will not be the case with the new rule in force,” the official said, adding that the notifications would also be uploaded on websites of the ministries/departments concerned from the fixed date.

At present, the Central Public Procurement Portal facilitates all Central government organisations to publish their tender enquiries, corrigendum and award of contract details. The system also enables the users to migrate to total electronic procurement mode. The primary objective of this portal is to provide a single point access to the information on procurement made across various central government organisations.
