North MCD passes proposal to regularise unauthorised colonies

Update: 2014-09-18 23:53 GMT
In a significant move, the standing committee of North MCD on Wednesday passed a resolution to regularise unauthorised colonies in the city.

The civic body has also requested the union government to give it all the powers for the development and regularisation of over 1600 unauthorised colonies in the city. ‘These unauthorized colonies should be regularised as per their existing boundaries not on the basis of their boundaries in 2007,’ said Mohan Bhardwaj, chairman of standing committee in North MCD.

In the resolution sent to union urban development ministry, the corporation also demanded to waive off the condition of width of street for regularisation.

It also resolved that the corporation may be empowered to regularise the unauthorised colonies and to decide the development charges and change of land use.

Meanwhile, Delhi Development Authority has raised objections to a resolution of the North MCD in which it had relaxed the provision of map for plots measuring up to 200 sqm meter.
