The babus in North MCD have recommended an NGO to supply mid-day meal which was ‘black listed’ by the Delhi government and Ghaziabad administration for supplying poor quality food.

“People Welfare Society, the NGO recommended by the committee of three Additional Commissioners to supply Mid-Day Meal in the schools of the Corporation was black listed by the Delhi government in 2013. The NGO went to Delhi high court but the court also rejected its appeal and upheld the view of the government,” said Vijay Prakash Pandey, Leader of House in North MCD. He also submitted the related documents. The NGO was also black listed by Ghaziabad for providing poor quality food and its MDM was also found to be infested with insects. The Corporation is in the process of allocating supply of MDM to NGOs for three years. After receiving expression of interest, the Corporation has shortlisted 11 NGOs while only three NGOs were deployed in 2013. “We direct the commissioner to verify the records of the new NGOs proposed to be engaged for MDM. The health and safety of our school children is our top priority and serious concern,” said Parvesh Wahi, Chairperson
of Standing Committee in North MCD.
