A 58-year-old advocate posted in North MCD was shot to death by two unidentified armed
assailants in South-east Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area on Monday evening. Prima facie suggests personal enmity could be the reason behind the incident.
According to the police, the victim identified as M M Khan, was an assistant legal advisor in North MCD. At the time of the incident, Khan was returning home in his Swift Dzire car when two persons riding on a motorbike stopped near him. The duo was wearing helmets and they knocked the window of Khan to ask about an address.
When he rolled down the window, they shot him from point-blank range. The accused duo managed to escape the spot leaving him in a pool of blood. When the locals noticed him, they made a call to the Police Control Room at around 7.40 pm and rushed him to Holy Family Hospital. He received a gun-shot injury on his chest and succumbed to it on Monday night.
A case under the relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Jamia Nagar police station. The CCTV footages are being scanned to find some clue about the culprits and his call details are also being looked at. Meanwhile his family members have been informed and further investigation is underway, said the official.
