The areas in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation are facing steep hike in dengue cases but the corporation officers are allegedly busy ‘faking’ records of their performance. A report on awareness campaigns and door-to-door inspections of mosquito breeding presented by the commissioner PK Gupta was termed ‘fake’ by the members of the standing committee cutting across party lines on Wednesday.
‘The data presented in the report is imaginary and fake. I direct the commissioner to take strict action against the officers involved in finalising the report and also responsible for sanitation,’ said Ram Kishan Singhal, chairman of North DMC’s standing committee. According to the report presented by the commissioner, domestic breeding checkers workers of the corporation made 1.3 crore visits in over 15 lakh houses in entire the North DMC area.
‘The figure shows that work is being done on paper only. It’s impossible for 1,500 DBC workers to make 1.3 crore visits in just three months,’ added Singhal. Delhi has recorded 142 dengue cases in August this year as against four cases in the same period last year.
