A day after the East Delhi Municipal Corporation sealed the accounts of property tax defaulters, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has also decided to take strict action against the defaulters if they fail to pay the tax.
Tax worth over Rs 450 crore is due from commercial and residential properties in NDMC area. Indian Council of Agricultural Research owes over Rs 48 crore, Rs 3.5 crore is due from BSES Rajdhani and Rs 2.8 crore from BSES Yamuna among others.
Rajesh Bhatia, chairman of the property tax committee in NDMC said that they have issued ‘last warning’ to the defaulters and is they don’t oblige, strict action would be taken against them. ‘We have warned the tax defaulters to pay dues on time else strict action would be taken under the provisions of the DMC Act,’ said Bhatia.
