North Delhi Mayor Azad Singh has assured a representative of Muslims to recruit adequate number of Urdu teachers in the primary schools run by North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North DMC). The mayor given the assurance to a group of Muslim clergy leaders from Old Delhi area.
‘I have directed the municipal commissioner to prepare a list of vacancies in the municipal schools. After having received the record, we will fill up the vacancies at the earliest,’ said Azad Singh to Millennium Post. ‘We don’t differentiate between citizens on the basis of their religion or caste or region,’ added Singh. The delegation was lead by Shamim Ahmed Khan, president of Ramjan-Ul-Mubarak Intzamia Committee. The delegation complained about the implorable conditions in municipal primary schools in Old Delhi area, particularly in the city zone of the corporation, where Muslim population is high.
According to education department, the corporation has dozens of Urdu Medium primary schools in City Zone and Sadar Pahargunj Zone where all subjects, including Maths and Science are taught in Urdu.
