Non-clearance of dues: Around 22,000 teachers likely to protest

Update: 2017-01-10 23:50 GMT
In yet another blow to the BJP-ruled Corporations, the teachers’ association are likely to boycott the training and seminar programme by joining the protest under the United Front MCD Employees banner, against the non-clearance of various dues.

General secretary of United Front employees, Rajendra Mewati, said: “Approximately 22,000 teachers of all three Corporations will together boycott the planned seminar and training programme as the civic bodies have failed to fulfill their demands like clearance of their arrears, permanent job, cashless facility in health and other services despite several requests and memorandums.”

He also informed that these teachers will take to the streets on Tuesday at about 12 noon and will abstain from attending the teachers’ training programme scheduled in Rohini Zone of North Corporation.

Students have been deprived of education facilities due to the severe cash crunch. Primary education has been majorly hit.

Thousands of MCD school teachers refused to report for duty and the teachers, who had earlier announced a ‘chalk-down’ strike, are in all likelihood going on a strike on Tuesday.
