Noida residents rake up leasehold to freehold issue

Update: 2012-09-13 00:31 GMT
Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (FONRWA)  on Wednesday wrote to Noida Chief Executive officer demanding conversion of leasehold to freehold and raising other unresolved issues. ‘While the state government has introduced conversion to freehold and all housing boards, including Ghaziabad Development Authority, Noida authority officials are not implementing it. Residents are ready to pay the conversion charges,’ said N P Singh, President of FONRWA.

FONRWA has also sought increase in the Floor Area Ratio so that residents can construct 3.5 floors. At present, though Noida authority had hiked FAR from 150 to 180 but it allowed construction upto 3 floors only from the earlier 2.5 floor.

‘We have demanded hike of FAR to 250 and height limit from 15 meter to 18 meter to enable Noida plot owners to construct four storeys as in Delhi,’ said Singh.

FONRWA also demanded toll-free movement on DND flyway. ‘DND flyway should be made toll-free. Noida authority should take over the flyway from NTBCL,’ said Singh. Other demands of FONRWA are encroachment removal from roads, fogging and spraying of disinfectants on stagnant water in residential areas, cleaning of drains, home shelter for poor people, traffic training park and play grounds. FONRWA also raised quantitative and qualitative deficiencies in drinking water. ‘The quality of water being supplied by authority is very hard,’ said Singh.

FONRWA also demanded mixed land use permission in small residential premises. Banks, guest houses, petty shops for daily use items should be allowed to function from residential premises, said Singh.

Further, FONRWA wanted construction of police chowkis in each sector and underground parking at community centres.

Other demands include sewage treatment plants, provision for disposal of industrial and medical waste, commercial complexes, resurfacing of roads, supply of PNG in sectors not covered so far and control of stray dogs and animals.
