NOIDA mulls banning polythene

Noida Authority on Monday decided to impose a blanket ban on polythene below 40 micron thickness in the satellite city. The authority in its 187th board meeting also announced amnesty scheme on water consumers and extended the time of depositing the bills till the end of the current financial year, March. “We are sending the proposal for gazette notification to UP government after which the use of polythene up to 40 microns will be completely prohibited in Noida,” said Rama Raman, CEO of Noida. “The thin plastics have become a health hazard in the city and also cause chocking of drains besides creating a sanitation issue,” he added.
