Update: 2013-11-29 00:19 GMT
The Supreme Court on Thursday termed as ‘arbitrary’ a decision of Uttar Pradesh government to allot land to former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, former state chief secretary Neera Yadav and her two daughters in Noida and sought their responses as to why the allotments will not be quashed.

A bench headed by Justice G S Singhvi directed them to file their responses within six weeks. ‘We direct that notices be issued to all the persons named in paragraph 16 to show cause as to why allotments/alternative allotments made in their favour may not be quashed,’ the bench said.
