She has been missing since. The last call made from her mobile phone was to 100 and her last location was found to be Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi. According to the reports, Malik’s Maruti Swift car was found abandoned about 500 metres away from her home in Sector-37.
As per the report, the victim’s family had approached Noida Police before contacting the Lajpat Nagar police. The family then visited Lajpat Nagar but the cops in Lajpat Nagar did not entertain them and asked them to contact Noida Police. Now, Noida Police have registered an FIR of abduction in the Sector 24 police station.
Though the FIR has been registered with the Noida Police, the case comes as a challenge to the Delhi Police as the woman had last made a call to 100 from Delhi circle.
Police, during their initial investigation, have claimed to recover CCTV footage of all possible routes between the two cities to identify the victim’s car movement but failed to make any headway. The police suspected that the victim did not go by car to Delhi and might have used some other vehicle. The family on Tuesday suspected an old landlord following which the cops are to question the landlord.
“The victim had met her husband at Bramhaputra market in Sector 29, just after leaving home on Monday afternoon. At that time her husband’s younger brother Sharad was with him. The last call was made from victim’s mobile phone at 2.56 pm and later her husband noticed the car in the evening. A local woman also told us that she had noticed the car at around 4 pm. The driver’s side mirror was rolled down. However, her mobile phone and purse are missing,” said a senior police official investigating the case.
“We have scanned CCTV footage of the DND flyway and Mayur Vihar to Delhi route but did not notice Shipra’s car. There is a possibility that she did not take the car. We are trying to find out what exactly happened between 2.56 pm and 5.30 pm (the time between calling 100 and her husband finding her car abandoned). We have also dispatched teams to Delhi including Lajpat Nagar to gain some lead in the matter,” the official added.
