Noida has issued a notice to the district magistrate and city police to launch a demolition drive on unauthorised colonies that are being set up by the land mafias and encroachers.

On Saturday morning, authority officials along with police force demolished illegal construction on a 2 lakh sq metre land in Gulavali village that falls on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. 100 workers, 11 JCB machines, 2 cranes and 10 trucks were used in the demolition drive.

Illegal colonies are thriving in the Gulavali village. The encroachers seize the land illegally and sell it to the innocent buyers. The authority has registered a case against the land mafia at Surajpur station under various sections of IPC including 120B, 415, 419, 447, 463. One of the land mafias, identified as Vjendra Singh, a resident of Alwar, was also arrested from the spot.

Apart from demolition drive, the city police also launched a search operation to nab those involved in selling farmhouses built illegally.

Cautioning the land mafias, Rama Raman said, ‘More such demolition drives would be launched if more illegally constructed colonies are found in the city. We will take stringent actions against those involved in the crime. Buyers should also be careful about the property they are buying and beware of not falling into the land mafias’ traps.’

Any construction without permission of the Noida Authority on the land notified of it is prohibited and the authority has the right to demolish such construction.  The police caught five persons red handed dealing a farmhouse. The FIRs have been registered against them at the Noida Phase 2 police station.
