Soon after taking oath as Delhi’s new chief minister on Saturday, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will visit Rajghat and then leave for his first Cabinet meeting. Wanting to waste no time in fulfilling his promises, 45-year-old Magsaysay Award winner is likely to hold his first Cabinet meeting at 2 pm on Saturday itself.
The Cabinet meeting will decide on a date to hold the assembly session and inform the Lieutenant Governor about it. L-G will in turn issue a notification based on the Cabinet recommendation.
It is expected that the Cabinet may recommend that assembly session be held between 1 and 7 January. The new government will have to prove its majority on the floor of the House within seven days of the oath-taking.
It is understood the Cabinet may approve the decision to provide 700 litres of water free of cost to every household daily and free water tankers to the areas where piped water is not available.
