No relief as city records 40° C

The Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered as the official figure for the city, posted a maximum temperature of 40.1 degree Celsius a notch above the season’s average. 

The minimum temperature was recorded at 30 degree Celsius, two notches above the normal, said a Met department official. Humidity level was recorded between 45 and 73 per cent.

The weatherman has forecast light rains and partly cloudy conditions on Monday. “The skies will be partly cloudy. Light rains and thunderstorm are likely to occur in some areas towards the evening and night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 38 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively,” it said.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.8 degrees Celsius, while minimum settled at 30.1 degrees Celsius.
