No new train for U’khand

Update: 2014-07-09 00:29 GMT
In spite of big promises of connecting all pilgrim centres by train during pre-poll campaigning, the new Rail budget (2014-15) of Modi government proved to be null and void for Uttarakhand. The long demand of developing additional track in Dehradun-Haridwar railline remained a distant dream. The pre-Independence project file of connecting Dehradun and Sharanpur via railway service is biting dust in some corner.
In the new Rail budget announced by railway minister Sadananda Gowda, no new train has been introduced for Uttarakhand state. The expectations of people were high as they were expecting that new government will not turn blind eye to the needs of hill people. The state has sent five BJP MPs to the parliament providing a clean sweep in the 2014 general elections.
However, the minister Gowda has announced rail connectivity proposal to four pilgrim centres, but  the holy city Haridwar has been not included in the temple circuit. It is to be seen that in how many years this proposal take its physical form.
