The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Common Services Centre (CSC) set up under the National e-Governance Plan, to virtually launch NIOS facilitation centres throughout the country.
The MoU was signed on Thursday at the India Habitat Centre between NIOS secretary UN Khaware and CSC chief executive officer Dinesh Kumar Tyagi.
The CSC centres set up throughout the country will function as facilitation centers, providing Internet-based services such as online registration, fee payment, confirmation of admission among other services to NIOS learners. Delivering the chief guest’s address, joint secretary in the department of School Education and Literacy J Alam congratulated NIOS for scaling new heights through the launching of initiatives such as the CSC services.
Pointing at the challenges faced by tutors in an informal system of education such as designing appropriate curriculum and teaching strategies for learners, he lauded the institute’s efforts in arranging a workshop for NIOS tutors.
