Nine Delhi BJP leaders figure in Shah’s new team

Rajender Nagar MLA Sardar RP Singh, who is considered close to defence and finance minister Arun Jaitley, has been inducted as national secretary in the new team while two former national secretaries – Arti Mehra and Vani Tripathi have been dropped. ‘Singh is a hard worker and he always performs with excellency on whatsoever assignments he is trusted with,’ said Satish Upadhayay in a welcome ceremony for Singh.

Shah, however, retained Anil Jain as national secretary who is again considered a loyalist of Jaitley.

The new BJP president has retained New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi and MJ Akbar as spokespersons apart from inducting one more Delhi BJP leader Nalin Kohli as national spokesperson. Sambit Patra, has been inducted as spokesperson from Odisha quota but he is actually considered a Delhi BJP leader and had contested for the post of councillor from Kashmere Gate area in MCD election- 2012.

Senior Scheduled Caste leader of Delhi BJP Dushyant Kumar Gautam has been appointed as president of Schedule Caste Morcha. BJP’s minority leader Abdul Rashid Ansari has been appointed as national president of minority morcha. Besides, Arun Kumar Jain is office secretary and organisation secretary Ram Lal has also been inducted in Delhi quota.
