When he didn’t wake up the next day, his friends took him to the AIIMS where he was
declared dead.

Initially, Delhi police had slapped murder charge against the accused but Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) dropped the murder charge and booked the seven persons including three juveniles under culpable homicide not amounting to murder besides adding sections of illegal confinement <g data-gr-id="26"><g data-gr-id="21">and and</g> SC/ST</g> atrocities Act. The four adult accused in this case are Farman, Pawan, Sunder and Sunny Uppal. Except Farman rest of the three are out on bail.

Nido Tania (19), son of a Congress MLA from Arunachal Pradesh, Nido Pavitra, was a BA first year student at a private university. His lynching on such a petty issue in the heart of National Capital sparked protest among the North East community and even became a poll plank in Delhi during Lok Sabha Election 2014.
