Newly-wed alleges rape, sodomy by spouse during honeymoon in Bangkok

A 23-year-old newly-wed woman as filed a case against her husband alleging that she was raped and sodomised by him during their honeymoon in Bangkok. The accused remains absconding till late Thursday evening.


The couple tied the knot on 29 November this year and recently went to Bangkok on their honeymoon. While staying in a hotel in Bangkok, the woman alleged that her husband forced her into a physical relationship with him and was brutally sodomised. When she opposed, he sexually assaulted her.

After returning from their honeymoon on Wednesday, she felt ill and was admitted at Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital, where she narrated the crime against her. She further made a complaint at Palam Village police station on Wednesday and filed a case against her husband who works in a MNC as IT engineer and was a project manager.

Medical examination confirmed rape and sodomy after which a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code regarding rape, unnatural sex, wrongful restraint and confinement were registered. ‘The 28-year-old accused has been absconding soon after the duo returned. His family is being questioned to identify possible hide-outs. Soon after the complaint, the mobile phone of the accused has been switched off,’ a police official investigating the case said.

The duo are residents of Palam Village in south-west Delhi and had an arrange marriage. ‘We are investigating the case from all plausible angles,’ the official added.
