Meanwhile, post-mortem report of the victim revealed cause of death as ‘multiple internal injuries’ and the three accused nabbed on Monday have been sent to two-days of police custody by a Metropolitan Magistrate’s (MM) court in Delhi.
The fourth accused, Azad Chaudhary (24), was arrested on Tuesday. He is a resident of Garhi area, near Lajpat Nagar in southern Delhi. The three accused nabbed on Monday were found to be residents of Garhi too, said a police official. He further said, Azad is a driver by profession and no information has been received on the arrest of the fifth accuse yet.
Post-mortem report of the victim, Akha Salouni (30), revealed multiple internal injuries on his head, neck and abdomen, said Dr Amit Gupta, Spokesperson of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). When asked about the comments made by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday, he said,’the post-mortem report objectively tells about the cause of death. It can’t assure if it was well-planned or accidental.’
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, an MM’s court in Delhi sent the three arrested men – Sanjay Basoya (24), Shakti Basoya (21) and Rajiv (25) – to two days of police custody, allowing the police to further interrogate them until the other accused men are nabbed. ‘In view of the facts and circumstances, the application for grant of two days police remand is allowed. The accused be produced on 24 July,’ said MM Ashok Kumar.
On Tuesday, Commissioner of Delhi Police, BS Bassi, also ensured that the case shall be solved soon. ‘Any such incident acts as an indicator for us to strengthen our measures for providing security to people living in the city,’ Bassi added.
The accused have been booked under Section 302 of IPC (murder) and other relevant sections of the Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, said a police official. A candle-light vigil was also organised in memory of the departed soul at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday evening.
