In a bid to make women self-reliant and enhance standard and sustainability in their entrepreneurships, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to start skill development courses including general duty assistant, home health aid, phlebotomy technician, medical laboratory technician, operation theatre technician, X-Ray technician, emergency medical technician and dialysis assistant. These courses have been identified with the Health Sector Skill Council (HSSC) in the first phase in Women Technical Institute (WTI). In addition to this, the agency has made several other announcements after its scheduled meeting on Monday.
Naresh Kumar, NDMC Chairman, said: “For the benefit of employees of the regular muster roll and temporary muster roll as well, the Council has approved a welfare scheme wherein on the death of an employee during the course of employment while discharging his official duty or due to an accident or terror attack or murder for the reason attributable to discharge of official duty, the families of the deceased will get an amount of Rs 5 lakh as an ex-gracia.”
The Council has also approved the setting up of “Atal Incubation Centres” under the Atal Innovation Mission in collaboration with the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) for incubating 20 new start-up companies. The Business Incubation, a unique and highly flexible combination of business development process and infrastructure, will provide an opportunity to the entrepreneurs to design and nurture their new and small businesses. The incubation centre will have all facilities like 100 plug and play work stations in an area of 10,000 square feet, access very high speed and reliable internet connectivity, dedicated meeting rooms for start-ups, training rooms and libraries, conference rooms, special platforms for special events with the facility back-up of audio-visual.
Additionally, it has approved the change in the policy for transfer of commercial water connection in line with the policy for transfer of electric commercial connection which will benefit consumers. Installation of as many as 12 Sewer Treatment Plant (STPs) based upon phytorid technology at different locations was also given the go-ahead during a meeting on Monday.
Apart from this, the Council has extended the period of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a further period of three years for implementation of solar energy projects in New Delhi area. The MoU was signed to promote development of Solar Photo Voltaic Project (ground mounted/roof top and other possible modes) at identified sites of NDMC both in private and public sectors.
