The North MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) is mulling over an idea to offer a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of any dengue death victim in its area.
Top officials of the North MCD said the proposal is being examined and a decision on it will be taken soon.
‘The proposal was made by a member of the Dengue and Malaria Committee. It was taken up by the Standing Committee recently and now the same has been moved to the municipal commissioner, under whom the feasibility of the proposal is being taken up,’ chairman of North MCD’s standing committee,
Mohan Bhardwaj said.
The proposal provides for granting of aid to those victims whose residence falls in the jurisdiction of the civic body. ‘People can produce a dengue death certificate to claim compensation. We need to look into every aspect before taking any final call on it,’ Bhardwaj added.
