The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to regularise the jobs of all the contractual employees on muster roll and completed 500 days of service by 1 April, 2014. The council also decided to extend the free water and subsidised power benefits to its area.
‘None of the existing employees would be rendered in-eligible on the basis of having exceeded the laid down age limit. Similarly other criteria for benefiting workers will include 5 per cent weightage to those safai karamcharis who may be literate and may be having job experience,’ said Jalaj Srivastava, chairman of NDMC.
‘The council also decided to provide immediate relief to the family members of deceased employees is that of ensuring employment to the family member of the deceased employees in Group ‘D’ post,’he added.
The council also endorsed the decision of Delhi government for providing free water to the limit of 20 kl per meter connection per month and to provide subsidy for using electricity to the extent of 400 units only per month.
However, the charges due would be payable by Delhi government. In yet another move towards good governance, NDMC has decided to refer all its contracts worth Rs 50 lakh and above to third party audit by Independent External Monitors as a part of Integrity Pact.
