NDMC headquarter evacuated following hoax bomb scare

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) headquarter housed in Palika Kendra in Central Delhi had to be evacuated on Monday, following a hoax bomb scare. “We received a call from a landline number from a PCO in Laxmi Nagar area in East Delhi informing about a bomb inside the building. We rushed the police and fire officials along with a dog and bomb squads to the spot,” said DCP New Delhi Vijay Singh. According to NDMC spokesperson Jagjivan Bakshi, the operations for the day remained suspended as the building had to be evacuated by noon. “The building was evacuated but nothing was found. The operations of the day in the NDMC office were affected,” he said. The DCP said that the police are trying to trace the identity of the caller.
