The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested an Under Secretary at the NCERT for allegedly demanding bribe from a person for disposing a complaint in his favour. Hari Ram, posted as an Under Secretary, NCERT, was arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
“A case was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on the allegations that the Under Secretary, NCERT was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for disposing a complaint in his favour, which was pending against him,” CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh said.
“Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused,” she said.
The arrested accused will be produced in the designated court in Delhi.
