Yogi government allocates Rs 25.02 crore to strengthen district hospitals in UP

Lucknow: In a significant move aimed at improving healthcare accessibility for the people of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has undertaken a comprehensive plan to reinforce the infrastructure of district hospitals across the state.

In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, the state government has approved a budget of Rs 25.02 crore for the upgrade of eight district hospitals, with Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow being a prominent beneficiary of this initiative.

The hospitals set to receive upgrades include Balrampur District Hospital in Kaiserbagh, Lucknow, the District Hospital of Ayodhya, Raj Narayan Maheshwari Joint District Hospital in Shikohabad (Firozabad), District Women’s Hospital in Bareilly, Women’s Hospital in Jaunpur, Bagla Joint District Hospital in Hathras, TB Sanatorium in Saharanpur, and the 100-bed hospital in Sonbarsa.

Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow is allocated a total of Rs 12.52 crore, divided into two categories, with Rs 10.12 crore designated for infrastructure improvements and an additional Rs 2.40 crore for essential equipment. Furthermore, similar upgrades are planned for Bhaurao Deoras Joint Hospital in Lucknow, District Women’s Hospital in Barabanki, and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital in Moradabad, with a budget of Rs 2.26 crore.

As part of this initiative, Balrampur District Hospital in Kaiserbagh, Lucknow, has already completed the procurement of 116 pieces of equipment, valued at over Rs 12.52 crore. These funds will be used for equipment acquisition in two phases.

The first phase will involve the procurement of medical equipment across 80 different categories, including advanced electric operation tables with remote controls. In the second phase, the Director General of the Medical and Health Services Department has approved the acquisition of 150 medical devices across 36 diverse categories, including dental equipment with microscopes and related attachments. These procurement details are documented in the government’s rule book and on the GeM portal, under the department’s supervision.

Several other district hospitals are also benefiting from this healthcare infrastructure enhancement effort. The District Hospital of Ayodhya has received equipment across 99 different categories, while the Raj Narayan Maheshwari Joint District Hospital in Shikohabad (Firozabad) has been equipped with 126 different types of medical devices. Additionally, both the District Women’s Hospital in Bareilly and Jaunpur have received 30 devices each.

The government’s comprehensive upgradation drive includes the procurement of hundreds of medical equipment across various categories. For instance, Bagla Joint District Hospital in Hathras is receiving 21 items, TB Sanatorium in Saharanpur is set to acquire 22, and the 20-bed hospital in Sonbarsa of Ballia is undergoing a significant transformation.

To further enhance healthcare facilities, Chief Minister Yogi has approved a budget of Rs 1.28 crore for the acquisition of around 100 medical equipment across 31 categories for Barabanki’s District Women’s Hospital.

In addition, procurement is ongoing for approximately 250 medical devices across 15 categories, with a budget of Rs 62.99 lakh for Lucknow’s Bhaurao Deoras Joint Hospital spanning 37 categories, and for Moradabad’s Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital encompassing 15 categories, with a budget of Rs 34.45 lakh.

This ambitious plan for upgrading district hospitals was submitted to the government by the Medical Section on September 18 and received approval, reflecting the government’s commitment to bolster healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh in line with CM Yogi’s vision.
