New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister flagged off an all woman car rally to create awareness among the people of the hill State to 'Save the girl child' here, on Sunday.
" Seeing the improved sex ration, which was heavily skewed against girl child in Haryana after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ' Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' (BBB) campaign in that state , Uttarakhand government has also launched similar campaign in view of the child sex ratio heavily skewed against the girl child in three districts of Uttarakhand namely Pithoragarh, Haridwar and Champavat." Said CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, while flagging off the all women car rally.
"After launch of BBBP scheme in state the sex child ratio in district of Pithoragarh has increased from 813 girls to 914 girls per thousand men which is a positive sign. Getting encouraged we plan to have ' Beti bachao Beti padao' brand ambassador in each block in each district " said beaming CM Rawat.
"The main objective of FLO's all woman car rally is to create awareness to save the lives of the girl child and fight female foeticide. We wish to celebrate the birth of a girl and educate them," said Vasvi Bharat Ram, national president, FICCI Ladies Organisation(FLO) while speaking at the flagging off ceremony.
