New Delhi: Strongly protesting the altercation between Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MPs and BJP MPs from West Bengal since the Winter Session of Parliament commenced, Mamata Banerjee led TMC on Friday urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to take action against those MPs from the saffron party.
In a letter sent to Om Birla, Lok Sabha speaker, TMC LS leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay and other two senior Parliamentarians - Saugata Roy and Mala Roy said that "Locket Chatterjee, Soumitra Khan and Arjun Singh - BJP MPs elected from the state are using the platform as West Bengal Legislative Assembly. This is unfortunate and disgraceful."
While speaking to the mediaperson, Bandyopadhyay said the issues - chit fund, lottery and the protest of para teachers are being raised in the Parliament and being presented to media in a 'wrongful manner'. The TMC MPs have also accused the BJP MPs for 'diminishing the functioning of Indian Parliament.'
BJP MP from Hoogly Lok Sabha constituency Locket Chatterjee raised the issue of the indefinite protest by the para terchers during the Zero Hour, saying that it has been 12 days and the strike is still on. One para teacher has died and several are hospitalised, she claimed.
The verbal spat between the two parties continued over 10 minutes. TMC MPs stood on their seats and came to the front row rejecting allegations.
Earlier this week, the Lower House also reverberated over the discussions on the Chit Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Both the BJP MPs Locket Chatterjee and Dilip Ghosh made scathing attack on the ruling party of West Bengal over the Saradha Ponzi scheme scam. TMC Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee asked the centre to scrap the bill as it does not have any penal code.
