New Delhi: Family members of a 30-year-old techie, who went missing for over seven months under mysterious circumstances after he went to sell his car, on Friday lodged a strong protest and sought the intervention of Central government into the incident, in what they termed a "travesty of justice".

Kumar Ajitabh had advertised on an online portal for selling his car, the members said.

Ajitabh disappeared on December 18, 2017.

They said it was a national issue and raises serious security concerns for the young professionals who stay away from their families.

The incident that took place in Bengaluru involved more than one state - as Ajitabh hailed from Bihar and it was initially suspected that his car might have been taken to a neighbouring state. Hence, the

Centre's intervention in recommending for a proper investigation is of utmost importance.

Calling for a CBI probe into the incident, that is 222 days old now, sister Pragya Sinha alleged that if something as important as the WhatsApp data has still not been procured under the Mutual Legal Assistance

Treaty (MLAT), how can anyone be satisfied with the investigation.

"What are they (the CID) waiting for? Do they want the WhatsApp to come back to them with the reply that 'we delete our records after a year and we don't have the data anymore'?" she wondered.

Ajitabh's last seen on WhatsApp was just 10 minutes before his location was last traced to. But, neither Ajitabh nor his red Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

(or his phone or SIM card) has been found.
