New Delhi: For the first time in the religious history of the birthplace of Lord Ram, Ayodhya, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) to host a grand namaz and Quran recitation session at the bank of holy river Saryu on Thursday morning.

About 1,000 Muslims are expected to participate in the event, including Vidyarthi and Muslim Clerics, MRM spokesperson Mohammad Afzal told the Millennium Post.

Reportedly, Muslim Clerics will perform 'wazu' from the water of holy river Saryu and then offer namaz for peace, brotherhood and communal harmony in the country.

The event is also supported by the BJP government and the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sources said. Senior RSS leader Murari Das will be the chief guest and Hindu representative there. Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will also take part, Afzal added. However, RSS national media coordinator Arun Kumar refused any association of Sangh with this programme.

Meanwhile, observers feel that with the recent conflicts over Ram temple and whether Ayodhya secures Muslim, this effort would send an

important message that this place is for both Muslims and Hindus.

Reportedly, the prayers by Muslim Clerics will also aim to have an early peaceful settlement to the Ayodhya dispute, over the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, such move by the

RSS affiliate will surely benefit the ruling BJP to gain

the minority trust, observers also feel.
