Oppn backs TMC, asks Govt not to remove Tagore writings from school text books

All opposition parties rallied behind TMC against removal of Rabindranath Tagore's writing from the school textbook. TMC Rajya Sabha leader Derek O'Brien briefed opposition party leaders to take up this issue inside the house jointly.
As decided earlier, opposition parties has shortlisted four major issues to raise in the house for the remaining part of the monsoon session. O'Brien told that a report has appeared that the government has planned to remove Tagore's poem from the school textbooks as recommended by RSS affiliated Sikhsa Sanskriti Sangsthan Nyas.
It is reported that they have sent their recommendation to the National Council Education Research and Training (NCERT).
On Monday, during the zero hour Derek O'Brien tried to draw the attention of the Chair and said nobody should be allowed to do politics with Tagore.
Deputy leader of Congress Anand Sharma joined the issue and said Tagore wrote our national anthem. Nobody can remove his poem from the textbooks. HRD Minister Prakash Jawdekar was not present in the house when this issue erupted in the house. But later, the minister informed media persons at an informal chatting that that was a mere recommendation among many.
The government has not taken any decision so far. But the opposition parties are determined to seek a clarification from the government on Tuesday and ask it to dissociate itself from the recommendation of the RSS Think tank.
In the parliament, TMC, AIADMK and DMK jointly raised the issue of problem faced by the students appeared for the NEET examination.
