Ahmadabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Vadnagar has emerged as a 'model village'. The village in Mehsana district of Gujarat and 100 km away from the Ahmedabad city, was regarded as an underdeveloped village' till 2000. It had only two higher-secondary schools, 3 Primary schools and one Arts and Commerce College.

Youngsters had to move elsewhere for higher studies.
However, now it has one ITI, one polytechnic college, one navodaya vidyalaya, and one medical college- which PM will inaugurate on October 8. The village will also have a science college soon.
The Prime Minister will be on a two-day visit to the state on October 7 and October 8. On the last day, PM Modi will visit his village Vadnagar for the first time since his resounding triumph in 2014. The village is decked up to welcome their most famous son. His eldest brother Sobha Bhai Modi, who runs an old age home in the village told Millennium Post that, "We had a small house in the village since 1948. Our father bought the house. Five siblings were raised and studied here. But our father had to sell the house later."
Apart from being PM Modi's birthplace, the village is also politically significant in the upcoming Assembly elections. Vadnagar is sandwiched between eight villages which have 95 per cent Muslim population. Badarpur, Kashimpa, Sadiqpur and Mohlipur, are among them.
While speaking to Millennium Post, Ghulam Md. V. Mommin ( Mommin Patel), the Chairman of Standing Committee, Mohlipur Panchayat stated, " We are satisfied with BJP's governance. Here we don't have water and electricity problem. Our children go to schools, colleges and even go for higher studies."
"Hindus and we live together. Even there is no meat ban here. But we don't eat beef as a mark of respect to our Hindu brothers."
